Mercy Nnenda Chinwo, widely recognized as Mercy Chinwo, is a Nigerian gospel musician, singer, actress, comedian, and songwriter. She was born on 5 September 1991 in Rivers State. Chinwo obtained her first school leaving certificate from Goodwill International School and her secondary school education from Paradise International School. She is an alumna of the International Business Management Institute (IBMI), where she earned a degree in Human Resources Management. Chinwo’s musical journey began at the age of six when she joined her church children’s choir.
On 13 August 2022, Chinwo tied the knot with Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa in Port Harcourt, and they currently reside in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2018, Chinwo released her single “Excess Love,” which gained widespread recognition. Prior to this, she had released her debut single, “Testimony,” in 2015, followed by “Igwe” in the same year. Two years later, she was signed to a gospel record label named EzeeTee.
Chinwo is a gospel music minister who has collaborated with several renowned gospel artists, including JJ Hairson, Nathaniel Bassey, Chioma Jesus, Banky W, Joe Praize, Samsong, Moses Bliss, Dunsin Oyekan, Preye Odede, and many others. In 2023, she and her husband established the MercyisBlessed Foundation, a non-governmental organization focused on supporting the less privileged and promoting youth development.
